Title of Nobility: What is It?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

By Jan-Olov Von Wowern The purpose of this short article is to explain the use of titles of nobility for genealogical purposes. A title of nobility is by no means subject to international standardisation, but rather to national and local differences. A full treatment of the subject can be found athttp://www.heraldica.org/topics/odegard/titlefaq.htm. Here it will suffice to say that the title of nobility you are most likely to come across in the English-speaking world is, in descending order: Prince, Duke, Marquis, Earl/Count, Viscount, Baron and Noble. If your family originally comes from a non-English-speaking country, you will need to search for a possible title of nobility in the relevant language. At the web address above you will find information about titles of nobility in various languages. A title of nobility is to be understood as a rank, similarly (and in some respects corresponding) to military ranks. Usually the noble rank is indicated by a coronet (”crown”) on the coat of arms, with one specific coronet signifying each rank. The coronets may have a different number of pearls or leaves to indicate each rank, etc. The customs are different in different countries. A title of nobility, as it is used today, is in most cases honorific, that is, it does only carry honorific privileges. These honorific rights include the rights to be recognised as a nobleman / noblewoman and belonging to the class of the nobility, the right to (where appropriate) use the title in question, the right to use noble arms with proper noble insignia, and the right by common law to certain appropriate predicates. Jan-Olov von Wowern lives in Stockholm, Sweden, and isthe head of the Swedish branch of the von Wowern family, dating back to its founder who was born around 1090 and made a Marquis in 1141. He is active in European charitable and nobiliary work. Visit his page at http://www.findyournobleancestors.com and download a FREE chapter from his book. How Your Personal Credit Affects Your Chances of Getting a Business Loan

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Williams]John Williams Your business idea first begins with a dream, and then extends to a passion. The passion to do what you love leads you to need financial assistance. Having the means to expand on your passion will bring hope to your livelihood. Does your personal credit affect your chances of getting a loan to begin the business of your dreams? We will explore this question. All lenders, especially local banks, will do a thorough check of your personal credit history. It most likely will affect your chances of receiving or being declined for a business loan. You can increase your chances of receiving approval for a business loan by paying close attention to the following personal credit factors: Show a steady source of income. Changing jobs prior to or not having employment will decrease your chances. Lenders need to see stability. Credit card balances should be paid off or carried at low amount. Never cancel a credit card or apply for a new one prior to applying for a business loan. Obtain credit reports from all credit bureaus to check for accuracy. Almost half of the reports have been found to contain errors. Determine a manageable down payment amount. It may mean rejection or approval. Lenders want to be assured the person they are loaning funds to is capable of managing personal finances because it will reflect spending habits within a business. Always be honest with lenders about your personal credit history. Anything you cover up can be deemed as fraud and will further you from getting the financial assistance you need. Honesty about past financial failures with explanation is your best investment for getting a business loan. Finally, before you approach a lender concerning your business, financial needs need to be organized with key documents, a business plan, financial statements and a repayment plan. In order to get a business loan, a business owner must think like a bank. If he or she is not prepared, most likely, the loan will be turned down. Business loans are somewhat different than personal loans; in addition to having a good credit standing, usually banks and financial institutions require business owners to supply a well thought out business plan. Banks want to be assured that the business owner will repay the loan, even if the business goes into default. A well-thought out business plan should include the following: Cover letter or executive summary Photographs of the business, if possible A description of you, your business and the history of the business, along with your background regarding the business. Any collateral or fixed assets to be acquired with the loan and their cost (include appraisals on real estate and recent tax appraisals). Market or target audience, potential or existing customers; competitors and supplier information A good marketing plan, which should include advertising and public relations Financial soundness of the plan, which includes Cash Flow Projections, projected Profit/Loss summaries, any business credit reports, copies of any business tax returns, lease agreements, any contracts with customers, etc. Business license, Franchise Agreements (if applicable), any other construction contracts, partnership agreements, employment agreements; environmental assessments if necessary, and copies of any other financial paperwork of worthiness Summary, which lists the benefits from the loan and a brief statement indicating how the loan will be repaid In addition to a well-thought out business plan, a business owner will most likely find that most institutions require personal financial information as well. Be prepared to present the lender with personal financial statements, personal tax returns, an up-to-date credit report, and resumes or letters of recommendation from former partners or proprietors. It is the business owners responsibility to ensure the lender that the business is of little risk, because after all, they are in a business for profit as well. Interfaith Marriage - How to Plan an Interfaith Wedding Ceremony

Friday, August 10th, 2007

By Cori Locklin Lets face it the world just isnt as big as it used to be. As a testament to the earths seemingly shrinking waistline, more and more young men and women are finding true love outside their faith and making it work. Yet no matter how progressive you and your families may be, the peaceful merging of two religions can prove an ambitious undertaking. Take a deep breath, remind yourself that love is the end goal, and get ready to celebrate a marriage made in heaven, er, make that two heavens. Interfaith wedding ceremonies pose a few planning challenges. Here is some advice to get you started: Do Some Soul Searching -If youve been neglecting your spiritual side, its time to get reacquainted. Assess your beliefs and the role you see them playing in your life. How important to you is it that your wedding ceremony reflects your religious background? How willing are you to compromise for your fiancs beliefs or family? Know your personal stance on faith and religion, so you can speak candidly with your fianc and your families and make decisions accordingly. Talk it Over -After youve come to terms with your own spirituality, you and your fianc need to have an honest discussion about religion. Although you should have broached the topic at some point during your relationship, now a wedding ceremony and marriage loom, adding a sense of urgency. During your internal reflection, you may have discovered your own views altering a bit, and he may feel the same. Discuss together your values, and identify what traditions are most meaningful for each of you to incorporate into your wedding ceremony and marriage. Invite the Families -Combining two sets of traditions while keeping the peace with both families can be tricky. Invite both sides to listen to your ideas and contribute their expectations for your wedding day. Youd be surprised how an honest group discussion can bring about solutions once deemed elusive. As the happy couple, you and your fianc should be prepared to discuss openly your choices, but you should also be receptive to their viewpoints. Be honest, open and supportive, and make sure that your ceremony plans are agreeable (or at least livable) for everyone. Get the Right Officiant(s) -While many officiants do not perform interfaith weddings or only do so with restrictions just as many specialize in interfaith wedding ceremonies. If either of you has a relationship with the clergy at your respective place of worship, consult with that him or her first. Even if your clergy is unable to perform the service, he or she should be able to evaluate your situation with an open mind and make suggestions and recommendations. Many religious and interfaith organizations maintain lists of clergy who will officiate at interfaith ceremonies. You will also find a valuable resource in your local newspapers wedding announcements. Search for the names of officiants who have conducted interfaith ceremonies. Get Counseled -Counseling sessions, often recommended before a wedding regardless of the couples religion, offer a good opportunity for a bride and groom to not only learn about the other’s faith, but also to consider ways to merge traditions or celebrations during the ceremony. Since religion wont disappear after your wedding day, counseling sessions also offer insight to other situations that may arise in your marriage, including raising children. Plan a Fusion Ceremony -Consult your officiant(s) and families for advice in designing a ceremony that incorporates both faiths and cultures. Determine which customs are personally significant, and select rituals and readings together. Continue this blending of cultures into the reception, and design a menu of personalized fusion cuisine think egg rolls with a side of Spanakopita. Reassure the Family -As your wedding plans unfold, remember to pause from time to time and check in with your families, especially if the news of an interfaith wedding was an initial shock for either side. Continue to keep them involved and informed throughout the planning process. Spend quality time together, and if logistics allow, plan some group get-togethers. Reassure Yourselves -Along those lines dont forget to reassure each other along the way, as uncertainty can creep in with potential roadblocks and planning challenges. Dont stress that youre losing your religion, because your not. Remember to always keep the focus on the marriage of two people in love, and rejoice that you now have two great traditions from which to draw your spiritual inspiration. Cash Advance Loans - Are the Fees Worth it?

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Sissons]Peter Sissons To solve the overnight problem for financial need in emergency we have the facility of cash advance loans. It is actually the money required between any two paydays. Now-a-days $100, $500 or even $1000 can be out on your doorstep by just filling an application online. These cash advance loans are easily availed and are actually secured by a personal check. Some of the companied may demand credit card information or the bank account information instead of security checks. One needs to give a check of an agreed amount, which can be taken out from our bank on the maturity of the agreement. Generally it takes two weeks to pay off such cash advance loans. These loans are received in the checking account after deduction of the company’s processing fee, etc. but the interest is charged on the full principal amount. There are some cash advance loans, which are fax-less payday loans. In these loans there is no fax required. Some basic questions need to be answered by the borrower and the application is filled online. The fax-less cash advance loans do not require any checks or any reporting of the credit history. This is an easy process for those who are not able to make-up with their money requirement till next paycheck. There is as such no difference between a payday loans or cash advance loans. Both these loans essentially mean the same thing but there is a big difference in the two types of cash advance loans. Fax-less cash advance loans are also called as the short-term loans. The lending amount varies from $100 to $500. This amount proves as a help for the borrower in paying the bills or for additional expenses which they otherwise would not be able to fulfill in absence of cash. This amount generally paid back around the applicant’s next payday. Where as in loans where faxing is required takes time to en-cash. There the documents are required to be faxed to the financial institutions. Thereafter the documents are reviewed and the credit history is tallied. Henceforth the loan is approved or disapproved. This way of opting cash advance loans is very long and do not fulfill any urgent requirement as per the situation. In fax-less loans one does not need to wait for the money till tomorrow when it is actually needed today. Everyone thinks that why these companies that provide cash advance loans work? The simplest and the major reason for this is the fee, which amounts to a very large profit at the consumer’s expense. For a two week loan the interest charged is nearly 15%. This amount comes up to 3785% yearly compounded. The lenders have a very simple and fruitful way to earn their living. Cash advance loans have enormous advantages. There is no amount of fixed payment to be made which will be a burden for the applicant. One can have automated paycheck facility the various cards such as VISA or Master Card determine the repayments. The process of opting for cash advance loans is very fast which is without any limitations or any pre-conditions. Like every coin has two sides cash advance loans also have their darker side. They attract exorbitant interest rates and high processing fee as well. Thus these cash advance loans should be availed in emergency or extreme cash requirement situations only. How to Sell Service Packages

Monday, August 6th, 2007

By Kendall SummerHawk One of the strategies I’ve been nagging everyone about lately(yes, I do mean nagwith a smile of course!) is to quit focusingon features and start relishing results. So far, so good. Butwhere a lot of Service Professionals pull up short is when theytry to describe their packages. All of a sudden, features tumbleout like kittens running amok. Yes, you need to create packages. Yes, those packages willinclude a list of features (think the “mechanics” of what you dohere). But that’s not what your clients are buying. What your clients are buying is a result. So…what result doesyour Package A deliver? What result does Package B deliver? AndPackage C? You see, if you’re a coach, your clients don’t really care ifthey get three, 30-minute sessions a month with you, or four,45-minute sessions. If you’re an organizer, your clients don’t care if they getthree hours of your time or four. If you’re a designer, they don’t care if they get eight hours ofyour time or ten. What they care about is getting what they want! The coaching client wants to achieve their goals or makeimportant decisions in their life/business. The organizingclient wants to see their floor and desk top for the first timein months. The design client wants a marketing package thatgrabs attention. For example, when I designed my HorseWise Brilliance UnbridledV.I.P. program and the Success Circle Coaching Club, I lookedcarefully at the results each one delivers. Both offer similarstrategies but the Success Circle is more of a do-it-yourselfprogram (with an abundance of my mentoring and coaching) whilethe V.I.P. program delivers a very specific result in a veryspecific period of time (and a pickup truck load of my time, attention, and expertise). The difference between these two offers is distinctive enough towarrant an equally distinctive difference in the investment, andthat’s precisely the point. When your packages clearly offerdistinctive results your prospective clients are equally clearas to which one is right for them. Suddenly, their decisionbecomes easy to make -yeah! My request for you this week is simple…and profound. I’masking you to visit your packages with your “results glasses”on. Spell out exactly what is different for your clients as aresult of purchasing that package (for the time being, pleaseignore the mechanics of how you deliver these results). Do thisfor each of your packages. I bet you’ll easily create a list of results each packagedelivers, which is step #2. Start writing each result eachpackage will become famous for. Now, take one more look at your packages. What is distinctivelydifferent about one over the other? Think in terms of tiers, meaning that each package builds on the one before it, up toyour “platinum” or “V.I.P” offer. Congratulations! Now that you’re clear about the distinction inresults between each package, you’ll find gaining the attentionand interest of new clients tons easier. Really! Oh, and in case you’re wondering about those pesky features.Yes, you can talk about them, but ONLY after your client hastold you which package they are excited about. Candle Supply Prices

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

By Peter Emerson When people are searching for prices of candle supply the easiest way to do so are referring to candle supply catalogs. They provide information on various candle-making supplies and the prices that are available in the market. The catalogs present the buyers with a wide range of materials required for candle making. They provide the advantage of multiple-choice, according to personal preferences and the purpose. These catalogs include prices of a variety of individual items and the ready candles available for sale. Most of the candles making stores and dealers have their product brochures online. These prices can also be displayed in magazines. Online websites classify the candles according to the material name. Buyers can visit the relevant section and view the complete list of specific materials and cost. These lists are accompanied with short descriptions of the products, to provide basic and relevant information. This information includes the wax type, the wicker size, length or the jar shape and glass type. Sample packs at discounted prices, are also displayed along with the company policies and necessary information regarding the products. All the contact information and shopping procedures for specific stores or companies can also be found in magazines and newspapers. People can also opt to pick up candle supplies from exhibitions and fairs that usually have a vast selection. The supplies generally required are molds, candlewicks, candle dyes and fragrances, brushes, oils and containers for the melted wax. Molds are available in different sizes and shapes and are easily available in the market. Some retail stores might also sell these at a low cost. People need to check the quality and the effect of these supplies before buying them. Numerous stores may also offer seasonal and cheap discounts on candle supplies. This is an enjoyable experience as people can make more candles and make wholesale purchases at low rates. A good number of discounted candle supplies are available in bulk quantities. Candle Supplies provides detailed information on Candle Supplies, Candle Making Supplies, Wholesale Candle Supplies, Wholesale Candle Making Supplies and more. The Real Secrets to Getting a Good Deal on Stained Glass

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

By Tim Jeffries Did you know that you can find stained glass deals if you look hard enough? There are a number of places to buy stained glass lets look at a few of them. The easiest and least risky way to buy glass is in a kit. You can purchase kits online: simply search for stained glass kits and youll see dozens of online suppliers. Or you can buy kits at Michaels Arts and Crafts, Ben Franklin, or your local craft store. Many smaller craft stores may not stock kits, but they will be glad to order what you want. The kit will only include glass you need for the project; you dont have to worry about leftovers. If youre new to the hobby, start with a kit or two that way you wont invest in glass inventory you may find you dont need. If you decide to buy glass in bulk, the first place to look is your local glass shop or craft shop. There are advantages and disadvantages to dealing with your local store. The advantages are clear: you can build up a business relationship with the store, you can inspect the glass before you purchase it, and you can ask questions and get advice from a knowledgeable source. The disadvantage is their selection may be limited and their prices may be higher than you can get from wholesale or discount glass companies. Of course, your local shop can order glass, but you lose the advantage of pre-inspecting the glass, and the price will probably be a little higher since the store will need to mark the glass up in order to make a profit. If your store orders glass for you, ask if you can inspect it before you actually make the purchase. The color or texture in the catalog may not be the same as the color or texture you eventually receive. There are a number of glass suppliers that can be found online. Simply search for stained glass supplies or stained glass and youll see hundreds of possibilities. If you decide to try an online supplier, make a small purchase the first time so you can evaluate their quality, professionalism, and service. When youre comparing price with your local shop, make sure you take into account shipping charges; the raw glass may be cheaper, but when combined with shipping costs the total transaction may cost more. Some glass manufacturers sell sample sets. These are exactly what they sound like: packages with a variety of glass types and colors enclosed. Many smaller sample sets cost less than $15 or $20 at online supply stores. Typically larger craft stores like Ben Franklin carry very few glass sample sets; if they do, their selection will be limited, but if you check they may have just what you need. In general the sheets of glass are smaller than what youd normally buy, so youre not stuck with a lot of glass you may never use. If youre new to the hobby, arent sure what you want to make, and are interested in experimenting, a sample set can be an inexpensive way to try out different colors and techniques. If you stay alert you may find great deals from local artisans or hobbyists. For instance, many hobbyists will sell glass if theyre preparing to move glass is hard to pack up and move, and many people wont want to bother. You may not find an opportunity like that often, but if you do, you can usually pay twenty-five percent or less for glass compared to what you would have paid retail. Sometimes glass shops will also sell partial sheets at a large discount. If the partial sheet is large enough for your intended use, great! (Buying partial sheets is like buying carpet remnants.) Glass shops often also have For Sale bulletin boards for hobbyists to use to advertise leftover glass they want to sell keep an eye out for pieces you can use. You can also find supplies and tools at yard sales make sure you have a wish list of tools with you and you may find exactly what youre looking for. You can also buy used tools on For Sale bulletin boards at glass shops; if a local craftsperson has upgraded to a more expensive grinder, for instance, they may be more than willing to sell you their used grinder for a fraction of its original cost. There is much more to this story than written here. Stained glass can be incredibly interesting once you learn all about it… Tim Jeffries is author of The Stained Glass Master Guide. Differences Between Men and Women

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

By Helen Brown No place demonstrates the differences between men and women better than the average family home. For centuries women have tried to tame men into understanding what living under a roof means. But males are genetically programmed to run around waving spears in the bush. Men have a special gene that allows them to crunch barefoot across a kitchen floor without noticing it needs sweeping. They think damp towels strewn on floors have built in homing devices that fly them back neatly folded on to bathroom rails. They believe the only time toilets need cleaning is when people are coming over for dinner. Even the tamest of men who have learnt to pile their dirty socks and underpants in some designated place like a corner of the bedroom or the back of the wardrobe have no idea what happens next. They think their clothes reappear magically clean and scented with ironing aid in their drawers and cupboards. When for some reason my husbands favourite shirt hasnt rematerialised within a couple of days of wearing it, hes genuinely mystified. Has anybody seen my shirt? hell ask, as if the thing has run away like a puppy. Hes equally mystified if the shirt returns minus a button. Ill fix it, he says. He then takes the shirt to the laundry and drapes it over the tool box, which (thanks to imaginative design in a Korean plastics factory) resembles a larger version of my sewing box. If after a few days, the shirt remains button-less, hell sigh and offer to take it to a professional repairer. I thought you were going to fix it? Ill say. I was but I couldnt find any buttons. For a moment I wonder if its worth asking which box hes been looking in the tool box or the sewing box. He does have trouble identifying things around the house. The other day when I asked him to put a dirty towel in the machine he said Which machine? Most men dont realise shirt buttons cluster like shellfish at the bottom of a sewing box. The prospect of being replaced by a professional repairer is enough to get me diving for the pearly little things. Men have strange ideas about what needs keeping and what should be thrown out. He always puts leftover bits of pizza in the fridge, promising hell eat them for breakfast. The only people who seriously eat cold pizza for breakfast are 16 year old boys. Two weeks later an evil stink wafts through the kitchen. Everything in the fridge is tainted with a sour flavour. Like Jacques Cousteau about to plunge into the deep, I put on rubber gloves and breathe deeply. The source of the stench is on the bottom shelf lurking behind a two year old jar of feijoa jam and bottles of beer waiting for the day an entire rugby team drops by for drinks - two wedges of what look like the inner soles of decomposing running shoes. His forgotten pizza. If only he could have applied the same theory to the plastic bottle I used to store laundry liquid. That bottle may have looked a bit messy with congealed blue goop down its sides, but it was a major environmental project. Instead of replacing the bottle every few weeks, I refilled it with liquid from a cardboard container. While my efforts probably werent doing much for pine forests, they were no doubt stopping several icebergs melting and saving half a dozen whales. The other morning I was horrified to discover the old plastic bottle was missing. After rattling through various cupboards, I realised what must have happened. Hed mistaken my precious laundry bottle for rubbish and binned it. Im not saying another word. A middle aged woman going on about a plastic laundry bottle could sound naggy, possibly even a touch insane. Besides, having a spear wielding warrior around has advantages. Every now and then he becomes a fearless dispatcher of spiders, an investigator of creepy noises in the night, a remover of dead rats and I cant imagine how wed survive without him In the meantime, readers have sent in fascinating emails about household objects. According to Clive Aim of Wanganui, Velcro can be lethal after all. He says the deadly fires on Apollo One in 1967 were fuelled by Velcro astronauts had used to stop things drifting around the cabin. As a result of last weeks column, Roz Redpath of Christchurch has been using dental floss to stop her ironing board cover wrinkling. Go Roz!
