All Access To Their Dieting Secrets!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

By James Monahan What would you do if you had access to everything there is to know about celebrity diets, or that latest Hollywood couple, or just about anything that’s controversial? There’s a show on VH1 that gives its viewers access to the whole Hollywood thing. VH1’s series of original specials offer an insider’s look into the world of rock & roll. It sheds light from money to fashion to feuds and more. ‘All Access’ is a magazine and lifestyle show that embraces celebrity and current pop culture. Getting “access” to these kinds of information has been for the most part shocking. Viewers find out the kind of lifestyle there Hollywood hunks have been living and for a split second- gets a taste of what it really is like to be famous. One of the most watched All Access episode deals with celebrity diets. Read on to find out about our favorite Hollywood stars’ eating plans. All Access did not disappoint when it gave out the secret food lifestyle of your movie stars and pop icons. All Access cited carbs as the culprits. It’s not how much they eat that makes them fat, it’s what they eat. The Zone, Atkins, Sugar Busters and The South Beach Diet are just a few of the many low-carb eating plans that have helped stars like Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cindy Crawford and Bill Clinton to shed pounds and keep them off. Model Carol Alt sings the praises of eating only raw food. Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow credit their yoga prowess to their macrobiotic diets. Animal activists Pam Anderson and Alicia Silverstone have foregone their Ugs to embrace a vegan lifestyle. All Access mentioned that getting healthy and losing weight means finding inner peace and joining PETA. Another amazing piece of information is how actors have to gain weight drastically. Actors take their art very seriously, and if an Oscar worthy role comes along, gaining (or losing) 30 pounds to snag the part is just a drop in the KFC bucket. Robert DeNiro, Renee Zelwegger for Bridget Jones, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and Charlize Theron for Monster have all either gained or lost substantial weight to portray their characters convincingly. Krispy Kreme doughnuts is on the limelight for making these stars gain 25 pounds before a shoot begins, and how many salads it takes to lose them once the production wraps. The show also game its viewers access to the weird and sometimes unreal endorsements these stars have. Got a little blue blood in your veins? Weight Watchers might be the diet for you, just as Fergie. Want to take a funnier approach to weight loss? Then maybe Whoopi Goldberg can make you smile about Slimfast. Are you the eccentric type? Anna Nicole Smith may be your TrimSpa ticket. Let’s face it, dieting isn’t easy. But it’s almost impossible if you are predisposed to obesity. Al Roker, Carnie Wilson, Randy Jackson and Sharon Osbourne all resorted to having gastrointestinal surgery when their weight problems became life threatening. All access gave the insider’s look to losing weight without shedding sweating a bit. The cutest bit in this show was having to Find out how stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson, Elizabeth Hurley and Cindy Crawford took off their baby weight. Creating a Pregnancy Scrapbook

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Audrey Okaneko Mommy, tell me again about when I was born. Any one who is a mother has heard this phrase countless times. Our children love to hear the story of how they were born. For those that are not yet mothers, I promise your kids will ask this many many times in the years to come. Creating a scrapbook of your pregnancy helps you tell your child the story of their birth. Here are several ideas for creating this very special scrapbook: 1. Take photos the day you find out youre pregnant. Take a photo of mom and dad. Take photos of any siblings and take photos of any grandparents who might live locally. 2. Kids want to know were you excited? and were you happy? They also want to know who did you tell first? Journal the answers to these questions, for inclusion in the scrapbook. If this is your first pregnancy, its hard to guess what your child might ask you in 5 years. Think of yourself as a child. What did you want to know about your mothers pregnancy? If you have other children, you know the questions you are going to be asked. 3. Take photos of mom and dad as the pregnancy progresses. Both my kids love seeing the photos of me being pregnant. We took side views, back views and front views. 4. Both my kids wanted to know what their names wouldve been had they been boys. (I have two girls). My own mom tells me about the name discussions she and my dad had before I was born. Again, journal these answers for your child to read when they are older. 5. Keep any reports and ultrasound photos that you receive from the doctor. I have ultrasound photos from both of my kids and they love seeing them. 6. Take a picture of the hospital where the child was born. Both of my kids were born at different hospitals and they both want to know about the hospital they were born at. They both have asked about the hospital stay as well. Did I stay overnight? Did I receive any medication? As the kids get older their questions become more detailed. Writing out the experience and putting this into the scrapbook allows the older child to have more information. 7. Take a picture of the delivering doctor if possible. 8. If there is baby naming, bris, or christening, take photos. Children want to see this. This is part of their birth. 9. Keep a list of who visits you in the hospital. Take photos if possible. Again, these are all questions Ive been asked by my own kids. 10. Take a photo of their bedroom the night they come home. They want to know what it looked like. Kids love knowing the story of their birth. Its a book theyll look at over and over again. Its truly the story of them!! Audrey Okaneko is mom to two girls. I Want A Raise!

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Raymond Usbal Observe a plant placed inside a box with a small hole in it. The plant will elongate outside the box through the hole so that its leaves will reach the sunlight. Why? It’s because of its needs of the sunlight to grow and bear fruit when the time comes. It is only natural for a plant to bear fruit. Look at you, isn’t it that you want a raise — you want to be promoted? Would you like some thought? Listen to me Are you good at your work? If not then you have to strive to know more so that you can outgrow your work. It is only when you outgrow the requirements of work that you can be promoted. Okay so how? Read books, eBooks and all kinds of information which is free on the web. That way you will be feeding your mind with food that it needs to grow. You see, as the sunlight is food to the plant, information is food to your brain. So after sometime of extra effort (mind you not everybody is willing to do that) you are now much more capable and qualified than what your work requires. Sooner or later, your boss will begin to notice the improve quality and speed of your work. Make it known to him that you welcome more challenging task. Ask him what more can you possibly do to help the company reach its goal. Hmmm so far so good but what if your company doesn’t give you the chance to contribute more of your abilities? Well, it’s time to apply to other companies. That will mean the possibility of leaving your officemates who are now close friends. Well, it’s actually your decision whether you prioritize your social life or the brighter future that is waiting for you. In my experience, if you want to have a raise, apply for another job. You tell then your prospective employer that you have outgrown your current job which is basically the reason why you are exploring for better job opportunities. You will only accept the job offer, of course, if the offered salary is greater than your current salary. Aha! That’s the raise. There are two possibilities here, either your company will convince you to remain because they value you (and that means they are offering a bigger check!), or, in case there is no position in your present company for you to be promoted into, then that is the go signal for you to transfer. Either scenario, you got a raise. After that, repeat the process again. Along the way you become more knowledgeable and capable of solving problems required in most work environments. You are being paid of the problem that you are capable of solving and that makes you an asset to any company. So, does this not mean that I will be hated by my employers because I will not be staying with them for long? Well, of course not. In the first place, it’s not your motive to transfer to another company but to be promoted since you have upgraded your qualifications which enables you to accomplish more tasks and solve more problems. You are leaving a company only if a position for you to grow is not available. In that case, it is but reasonable for you to transfer to another company that needs you. Say amen if you agree! PS: You need to honor the agreement you signed with your company regarding the period for them to look for your replacement. It is important to maintain a good relationship with your employers. Who knows for sure whether you will be working with them again in the future! Raymond S. Throughout Is The Goal

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

By Daniel Flamberg Marketing exists to identify, speak to, connect with and prepare prospects to buy. Everything a marketing department does from creating the logo and the brand promise to the ads, e-mails, collateral and t-shirts s designed to achieve this goal. Yet too often marketers fall in love with the programs and under deliver qualified sales leads. Why ? Two good reasons. First they dont have the data to see what is going on. They are devoted to their newsletters, their webcasts, their roadshows or their white papers which they fought tooth and nail to create, fund and coordinate internally. They dont have access to the sales pipeline or dont carefully mine the CRM system to see what is working and what is not.In some cases they measure satisfaction with these tools but dont measure how these tool drive prospects through the pipeline. They know which webcast was liked the best, but they dont know how many of the webcast viewers turned into closed deals or when. Consider the example of a marketing team that built an information portal aimed at their target prospects. They assumed that there was a hunger for information about their sector and they figured that if their brand provided this information, prospects would be more open to buying from them. Over 2 years they invested time, people and cash heavily in collecting, editing and displaying every bit of content they could find. They built a database of 200,000 names and invited them to the portal every month. In a year they delivered 2.4 million targeted impressions beckoning prospects to drink from their font of information. Recently someone crunched the numbers. In 2005 less than 2000 of the 200,000 came to portal and read something. Fewer than 200 came back 3 times or more. And nobody knows if any of the 2000 were customers, were promising prospects or had anything to do with the organizations salespeople. Now theres anxiety in marketingland and the team is reluctant to change or abandon the portal they fought so hard to create and maintain. Second, it is so hard to get anything done in a large corporation and the emotional investment is so great that marketers become prisoners of their programs. Getting an idea through a matrixed bureaucracy requires enormous effort, time, adrenaline and political finesse. Nobody whose been through the process is about to blow up their end product and head back into the fray willingly. A different team of marketers developed a sophisticated scoring system to filter, rank and interact with web visitors. They developed a credible marketing program and drove 60,000 leads into their pipeline based on the scoring model. They presented these results to the board and everyone got a bonus. Then someone began to go through the numbers. Half of all the leads that were identified by the scoring model turned to dust in the tele-qualification process. Another 15 percent turned to dust early in the first real interaction with salespeople. The program was onto something but it was far less effective than advertised upward. And nobody was willing to spill the beans or jeopardize their new-found status. Yet if marketers are going to successfully fight for more resources and fight for greater visibility in the corporate decision -making process, continuous process improvement has to be their mantra. Marketers have to become more mercenary in assessing and editing the programs and ideas they bring forward. Its about the end result. Its not about how cleaver, elegant or unusual the marketing tactic is. And with the growing use of CRM and automated marketing services, it is becoming easier and easier to understand and measure throughput. A relevant metaphor is Ariel Sharon, the comatose Israeli prime minister, known for quickly abandoning tactics in service to a larger strategy. Sharon never fell in love with the trees but he consistently focused on the forest. He built and then dismantled settlements, invaded and then withdrew from Lebanon, swung far right then zigzagged back to the center each time dumping programs he himself constructed and advocated. And while the jury of history is still out, most Israelis believe he has advanced their cause and protected their security better than anyone. In a measured universe, marketers have to keep their eye on the ultimate measurement closed deals and track their contributions to that process. The most successful marketers will be the ones who keep their eyes firmly on the sales prize and regularly blow up their own tactics. Vegetables, Buy Frozen To Be Safe

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Lucien Beauley All of us shop on a more or less daily bases. We all look for the freshest in the produce we buy…since we all work hard for the wages we earn. These days, with nutrition becoming more and more of a priority, we are looking for the highest nutritional content, especially in fresh vegetable and fruit. Cereals have been fortified it seems since the beginning of time. On the contrary, (fresh)vegetable and fruit produce have not been so altered in this way. The question is…are they totally without any blemish, i.e., those we select are without bacterial contamination that has possibly festered since their original packaging immediately after picking ? The Department of Agriculture The U.S. Department of Agriculture uses every precaution so that there is an absolute minimum of bacterial contamination from the harvesting of any crop by multiple rinsing at the point of packaging to its destination…the consumer. Unfortunately, even with all of the many precautions taken from harvest to consumption, some contamination slips through the system. There is a way to virtually prevent this from ever happening,i.e., freezing and then shipping to market where the vegetables and fruit are then kept in that state until purchase. It has been found that if a par boiling and then a freezing process takes place immediately after washing of the produce, fruits and vegetables will last an extremely long period of time, some even many years and then when they are ready to be used, just defrosted and cooked. The whole idea is that any small amount of bacteria present at harvest will become dormant until the user is ready to consume them. In the news of late (September, 2006) has reported findings that some spinach was found to be contaminated with a strain of salmonella bacteria that has sickened several dozen people nationwide and thus far has been fatal for one individual. At the same time, it has been reported that similar episodes have been reported with lettuce in the recent past and that studies were being conducted in an attempt to lessen future lettuce source outbreaks. Whatever the outcome of the present studies by the U.S. government to find the exact source and to hopefully halt future outbreaks, there must be a safer source of our vegetables. As explained earlier, at least until this problem is resolved, frozen, packaged vegetables and fruit is a viable alternative solution. True, frozen vegetables do not possess the pliability of fresh, but most of our fresh vegetables, after being stored and shipped for great distances can loose some of their original potent nutrients, whereas our frozen counterpart looses very little. As far as is known, no one has ever been sickened by frozen vegetables…when properly cooked. Some food for thought. Banks & Branches: What Happened to Online?

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

By Stuart Oliver So the Abbey has announced that it’s to open 100 new branches. See article here. This is interesting as the announcement comes only a few months after announcing that they will shed up to 2000 jobs in an efficiency drive I’m interested to know the motivation behind opening branches. Whatever it is, it must be compelling as the cost involved in this activity must be astronomical never mind the increase in overheads. My speculation is that it’s been decided that branches are needed in order to reduce customer churn and increase the customer base. This is the interesting bit. It’s interesting because this is old fashioned marketing. Good old face-to-face wins the day. You know the scenario, you walk in, smoke coming out of your ears, demand to have your account closed immediately and are met with smooth talking & understanding member of staff. 20 minutes later you walk out having kept your account and also signed up for a credit card and high notice deposit account. Is there a hidden message here? I think there is. The message is that they have not been successful reducing customer churn and gaining new customers through online means. I’m not sure if they’ve even tried. If they have, it’s a shame that it didn’t work. If they haven’t then it’s exactly what they should be doing. You can keep the Finance Director happy by spending far less than you would on new branches and also avoid a huge increase in overheads. Furthermore, and more importantly (at least is should be) they’ll keep their customers happy. If customers have an online community so that they can connect with their bank, so that they can communicate with their bank then they’ve just achieved the best win-win they ever could. You see here we have direct interaction with the consumer, they feel valued, they feel that someone is listening, more to the point you - the service provider, the bank - can communicate desired responses. These enable you to keep abreast of customer demands and desires and in doing so you’ll build advocates. Once you’ve done this you can dispense with your marketing director, he’s not needed anymore - you’re advocates will do his job for you. If you’re reading this and you work for the Abbey, I know what you’re thinking - “What about the internal overhead of responding to customer queries, questions, suggestions within this community”. This is a good question, let’s think about this. How many distinct questions do you think there can be. Really, how many. You’re a bank with a finite (and small) product offering. So that’s the first thing there won’t be that many distinct questions but for the questions that do exist, think about it, you’ll answer them once and hundreds or thousands will get the answer, the same answer - oh, at last, a consistent message you’ll hear your customers say. So know you’re building a nice repository of information, suggestions and advice all of which is reusable. If you have a decent search facility built in, questions should reduce as your customers will find the answers to their queries themselves. Make sense. So now, the customer is doing the work that you used to do, that sounds good - reduced headcount, the FD will be happy again. Last point (in order to keep the blog short-ish more than anything else), think about this community. Think about your clients openly expressing “I wish I didn’t have to do such and such when I setup a new direct debit” or “why does it take 5 days to sort out this” and lastly “why do the bank keep sending my cheque book to my previous address”. You’ve got free market research. Free = FD is happy again, Market Research = Marketing Director is happy. Ooops, I forgot, he’s already gone. OK, Head of Products will be happy. The future is online, the future is mobile. Few of us have the time, inclination or desire to visit a bank on the high street. The group that does have this time are reducing in number all of the time. Once we get to Global Banking, this group will be miniscule. My background and experience is mainly project management within diverse environments such as large corporate financial institutions, medium-sized technology consultancies and smaller start-ups. Having held positions including Operations Director (COO) and Head of Process Management, I recently left corporate lifethe entrepreneurial side of my character is prevailing. My focus is on becoming an Un-natural Entrepreneur. I want to work with people and companies that have vision. I can offer key values and skills to help bring your ideas to fruition. If you are a starter, then I am your finisher. My approach to a challenge is to clarify, understand, problem-solve, develop and deliver. To take an idea or concept through from its inception to its execution requires a consultative approach - a partnership. I am a rational and pragmatic thinker and can work within an existing management structure, or create a new management team through my extensive network. http://www.stuart-oliver.com/blog Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Stuart_Oliver http://EzineArticles.com/?Banks-and-Branches:-What-Happened-to-Online?&id=198827 buy carisoprodol cod online carisoprodol online carisoprodol 3ca 3e 2c 3ca href online purchase soma keywordbuy carisoprodol online

Mosquitoes in Your Garden? Try Planting These

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

By Scottie Johnson If you are a serious gardener, you spend lots of time outdoors. And, for sure, you would rather be tending your plants than swatting mosquitoes. While there are many things you can do to keep mosquitoes away, there are some plants that will beautify your yard and help repel mosquitoes. As one more way to keep mosquitoes away from you and your yard, try planting these attractive plants. HORSEMINT Horsemint has a scent similar to citronella. Horsemint grows wild in most of the Eastern United States, from Mexico, Texas up to Minnesota to Vermont. It is partial to sandy soils and will grow in USDA Zones 5-10. Native Americans used it as a treatment for colds and flu. It has natural fungicidal and bacterial retardant properties because it’s essential oils are high in thymol. ROSEMARY This wonderful herb we use for seasoning is also a great, natural mosquito repellant. It has been used for centuries to keep pesky mosquitoes away. Rosemary is a native of the Mediterranean, so it likes hot, dry weather and well-drained soil. It is hardy in USDA zones 8-10, and must be grown as a pot plant in colder climates. If you happen to live in a part of the country where rosemary does not grow, you can get a good quality rosemary essential oil; mix 4 drops with cup olive oil. Store in a cool, dry place. When it comes to fresh plant oils as natural mosquito repellants, there is every reason to have the plant in your yard, if they will grow in your area. It is an inexpensive and attractive way to boost the appearance of the landscape and have natural mosquito repellants on hand as well. MARIGOLDS Organic gardeners have used marigolds as companion plants to keep aphids away. Mosquitoes dont like its scent any better (and some humans feel the same way). Marigolds are sun-loving annuals that come in a variety of shapes and sizes for almost any landscape. They are quite easy to grow from seed. AGERATUM This charming little bedding plant contains coumarin, and mosquitoes detest the smell. It is used in the perfume industry and is even in some commercial mosquito repellants. Dont rub ageratum on your skin, though. It has some other less desirable elements that you dont want to keep on your skin in quantity. Ageratums are annuals, and the come in a muted blue and white that compliments most other plantings. MOSQUITO PLANTS There are two types of plants that are called mosquito plants. One is a member of the geranium family that was genetically engineered to incorporate the properties of citronella. Citronella only grows in tropical places, but it is a well known repellant for mosquitoes. This plant was created to bring the repellant properties of citronella into a hardier plant. It will grow where any geranium will thrive. Many have questioned its usefulness as a mosquito repellant, but it is attractive enough to warrant planting for its ornamental value. The other kind of mosquito plant is agastache cana. Its common names include Texas hummingbird mint, bubblegum mint, giant hyssop, or giant hummingbird mint. As you might guess, hummingbirds are quite attracted to it. It is a New Mexico native, also found in parts of Texas. It is, in fact, a member of the mint family and its leaves do have a pungent aroma when crushed. In its native habitat, it is perennial, and is usually hardy in USDA Zones 5a-9a. It blooms late summer to early fall, so it catches hummingbirds on their annual migration. The long, medium pink flowers reel in butterflies as well. CATNIP One of the most powerful mosquito repellant plants is ordinary catnip. Recent studies have shown that it is ten times more effective than DEET at repelling mosquitoes. It is a short lived perennial throughout most of the United States. It is easy to grow from seed, and quickly reseeds. Aside from its intoxicating effects on cats, the leaves make a very soothing tea. With all of these plants, the leaves must be crushed to release the aroma. Otherwise mosquitoes cant smell them. And, with rosemary and catnip, you can simply crush a few leaves and rub on your skin and clothing to enhance the effect. So, next time you are revising your plantings, consider using some of these attractive plants to do more than just enhance the landscape. You can have pretty ornamentals that also drive mosquitoes away. 6 Ways to Boost Your Metabolism & Lose Weight

Friday, November 16th, 2007

By Craig Ballantyne Everyone wants to know how you can increase your metabolism. It is like it is the magic bullet for fat loss. But what is this mysterious metabolism and how can you control it and manipulate it to work for you and to help you burn fat? The word metabolism refers to how many calories you burn each day. It is controlled by many factors, including your hormone levels, your activity levels, the amount and type of food you eat, the amount of rest and recovery you get, your stress levels, and your genetics. You can temporarily increase your metabolism with exercise and you can increase your metabolism long-tem by adding muscle, losing fat, and eating whole, natural foods. So if you increase your metabolism, you will burn more calories and lose more fat - and that is what I am going to do in this newsletter so that you will be able to burn fat and build muscle all day long. But if any of the metabolic-control factors gets messed up, then your metabolism can slow down. This can be very bad for your body composition, leading to fat gain. Aside from some type of medical condition, the main factor for a slow metabolism is poor lifestyle choices. Living the Westernized-lifestyle is a sure way to slow your metabolism. The Westernized lifestyle is characterized by: Eating a high-carbohydrate, high-fat diet Eating 1-2 large meals per day only Consuming alcohol on a frequent basis Not exercising, or choosing to perform only slow duration, steady-state exercise and avoiding strength training for muscle mass Getting small amounts of low-quality sleep Not having coping strategies to deal with excessive amounts of stress Skipping meals in order to lose weight Being overweight does not necessarily mean that you had a slow metabolism, but becoming overweight can lead to an even slower metabolism. And that can create a cycle of gaining weight leading to a slower metabolism leading to gaining weight, etc. Then what happens when people realize they have a slower metabolism? They start to eat less of course. And that too can lead to an even slower metabolism still. So what to do? The answer is really simple. You just have to get organized, educated, and motivated to avoid living the Western-lifestyle. Now I can educate you on the daily, step-by-step methods to change, but you have to be committed. But if youve come this far with the newsletter, than I know you can do it. Heres how you should get started on living the metabolism boosting lifestyle: 1. Visualize yourself being successful as you start your new lifestyle. You have a much greater chance of succeeding if you think positively. 2. Make a list of 3 short-term and 3 long-term goals. Post these goals in places that you will see them everyday. When you reach a goal, set a new one. Short-term goals ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Long-term goals ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ 3. Stop buying Western lifestyle foods (i.e. processed carbs) and switch to fruits, vegetables, protein, and nuts. Now that’s a metabolism-boosting grocery list! 4. Add strength training to your workouts. 5. Add interval training to your workout, and drop the slow boring cardio. 6. Eat 6 small mini-meals each day, rather than 2 large meals. Those are 6 guaranteed steps to help you boost your metabolism and lose weight. Stay consistent, and you’ll have a new body in no time!
