Know Your Man: Pornography

By Maria Moratto “When it comes to hiding porn, every man is a CIA agent.” ~ S. Sachs “I am not a pervert or a sexaholic, but yes, I like some added sexual stimulation.” ~ Anon “When I was a teenager, Mom said I’d go blind if I didn’t quit doing *that*. Maybe she was right “since the invention of Internet porn, computer monitors keep getting bigger and bigger.” ~ Bill Ervin This may come as a surprise to you. I took a while to figure this one out as well. Men like pornography. This doesnt mean they dont fancy us or that we arent good lovers or that they dont love us. They do. For them, however, pornography gives their fantasies some spice, and they will watch it. We need not read into it. It works more like an outlet, a cathartic activity. They enjoy it. Now, you may ask: where do they find it? To begin with, the Internet. It has become a major endorser of pornography. And we dont really need to look too deep into it. Emails are the first tools. Heres an example: Every time I get connected (or re-connected) to a male friend, zap! I start to get plain pornography from them. My male friends think their messages are hilarious and I, on the contrary, think they are gross. A matter of opinion, of course, in which I am supported by practically every existing woman. We cant take this very well, though we must learn no to take it personally. So, very politely, I request that they stop sending me this sort of messages because I dont appreciate them. Guess what? They ignore me. I believe they think I am not serious, which I am. They cannot understand what I mean by not liking it. After all, I am their “buddy” even though I am a woman and buddies share this sort of thing. Only when I send about three or four messages and then threaten to remove them from my list if they dont stop, they listen to me. I am sure they dont do this out of disrespect or anything, but simply because they cant conceive that I dont like the stuff, being their friend and all, you know, one of the Gents. After all, I am not their spouse! The Internet per se is another great means of getting pornography. I was once doing a research in natural medicine and learned about urine therapy, which is very popular in India, by the way. The nave me, goes online and searched: urine therapy. I had my son, then probably 11 years old, sitting with me in front of the screen. What a surprise when the first link showed a woman, blah, blah, blah (I dont want to talk about that!). You get the picture. Of course, I then learned to censor the Internet access. Would you believe that we still get some porn stuff while searching the Net? Want another example? Three years ago, my son and I went on a European tour. So, after a day sightseeing and traveling, we get into our new hotel rooms, remove our shoes, turn on the TV, and lie on the bed. Watching foreign TV is great fun. Guess what? The minute we turned on the TV, zap! A porn film jumps at our unprepared eyes. This happened not once, but several times. Alex was 13 then. How fun is it that a mother and a pre-adolescent get to see flashes of great porn together? Gee… Another example? Check one of the deleted scenes of the movie “Love Actually” or the internet scene in the movie “Closer.” Now, those are regular guys, mind you; not a pervert that stalks little children or anything. A Word of AdviceLadies: Close your eyes. Dont go into his things. If you find out that your man is into this stuff, take a deep breath and repeat to yourself: “this has nothing to do with me.” Gents: Do your porn when no one is around and hide it under a fictitious name in your list of favorites. And by all means, never, ever, disclose your fancy for pornography, for it is rarely a woman who can take it. Maria Moratto 2006 Want to have more abundance, health, time, love, fun, and blessings?
